A 151.7km stage with over 2,500 metres of climbing awaited the women’s peloton and the FDJ-SUEZ team this morning, once again starting from Clermont-Ferrand and its ever-populous Auvergne crowd.
The second day of the Tour de France Women with Zwift fully lived up to the expectations of fans, thanks to all the elements brought together for this show: intensity from the very first slopes, showers, race scenario…
The FDJ-SUEZ cyclists were very much in the limelight today, at the front of the peloton working and helping to make the race harder with Marta, Grace and Jade, but also on the offensive, like Evita and Cecilie, who were again present today with the best elements of the peloton.
At the end of the stage in Mauriac, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig finished 6th in the stage won by German champion and Movistar rider Liane Lippert. Evita Muzic finished the stage in 15th position. In the overall classification, Cecilie gained 3 places and is now in 5th position, 59 seconds behind the yellow jersey. Evita is in 14th place overall. Grace and Marta, who did a tremendous job today, are more than 4 minutes behind in the overall standings.
After the withdrawal of three cyclists, including Eva van Agt, to whom our thoughts go out, and one non-starter, 149 riders will make up the peloton at the start in Collonges-la-Rouge tomorrow morning.
