As they did two days ago, Evita, Marta and Cecilie finished in the chasing pack of Elisa LONGO BORGHINI, who won stage 4 of the Giro Donne on Monday afternoon. Three years after her first victory in the Giro, the Italian champion claimed her second success by dominating the sprint of the two riders with whom she had escaped.
Despite a remarkable collective effort, they were unfortunately unable to close the gap on the breakaway and finished 40 seconds behind the day’s winner.
At the end of this fourth stage, Cecilie UTTRUP LUDWIG was in fourth place, 1’33 behind leader Annemiek VAN VLEUTEN.
Marta CAVALLI, eighth at 1’39, retains her mountain leader’s jersey.
