On Saturday 4 October, the European Road Championships road race took place in Guilherand-Granges. On a hilly 117-kilometre course, the race was decided on the difficult Saint-Romain-de-Lerps climb (7 km at 7.2%), where the group of favourites was reduced to a handful of riders.
Among them, the three representatives from FDJ-SUEZ were once again in contention. Demi Vollering flew away in the last forty kilometres to win solo and claim her first European Championship title. Behind her, Elise Chabbey took a solid 4th place, just two seconds off the podium, while Juliette Labous finished in an impressive 6th place, with the same time.
