The 27th edition of the Flèche Wallonne Femmes took place this Wednesday over a course of 146 kilometres around Huy, in the province of Liège. Malgré une météo difficile avec pluie et températures basses, la course a été dominée par Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon // SRAM Racing), qui a triomphé au sommet du célèbre Mur de Huy.
Our team also had reason to celebrate thanks to the exceptional performance of Évita Muzic, who finished a remarkable fourth. The young Frenchwoman brilliantly overcame the challenges of the course, keeping in touch with the leaders and particularly distinguishing herself in the crucial final kilometres of the race.
The action began in the early kilometres with a breakaway including Sara Martín (Movistar), Julie Van de Velde (AG Insurance-Soudal Team) and Elena Hartmann (Roland). This group managed to open up a gap of up to four minutes and forty-five seconds. Efforts to close the gap began on the Ereffe climb, led by riders such as Grace Brown and Pauliena Rooijakkers (Fenix-Deceuninck).
The highlight of the race was the repeated attacks on the second section of the Ereffe climb and on the final ascent of the Mur de Huy. It was here that Évita Muzic really shone, keeping pace with the best and asserting her place among the world’s elite female climbers.
Katarzyna Niewiadoma won the race, closely followed by Demi Vollering (SD Worx Protime) and Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek) who completed the podium.
Évita Muzic finished a fine fourth, consolidating her position as one of the best climbers in the field followed by Marta in 9th place.
