The 16.5 km time trial on a completely flat course in Herning proved decisive for the outcome of the Tour of Scandinavia.
If this stage was marked by the excellent performance of Grace Brown – the world time trial champion – who won impressively in 20 minutes and 36 seconds, the day was contrasted for the team.
Indeed, despite the victory of Brown, the general classification reserved a disappointment. Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, who wore the leader’s jersey, gave in to the power of Annemiek Van Vleuten in this event. In particular, she conceded 29 additional seconds to her Dutch rival, Van Vleuten, who finished 3rd in the stage, beaten only by her compatriot Amber Kraak of Team Jumbo-Visma.
Van Vleuten thus took the leader’s jersey, relegating Ludwig to 17 seconds in the general standings, as we approached the final stage of the Tour.
Verdict this Sunday with the ambition to defend and regain the title!
