For the second consecutive year, Ally Wollaston won the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race on Saturday 31 January. Already a double stage winner in the Tour Down Under, the New Zealander from the team ended her Australian tour with a third victory.
At the end of the 141-kilometre race, the outcome was decided among a small group. Despite a hilly course and repeated climbs up Challambra Crescent, the peloton of favourites remained together for the final sprint.
With perfect support from her teammates in the final stretch, Ally Wollaston used her speed to overtake Britain’s Josie Nelson (Picnic PostNL) and Spain’s Mireia Benito (AG Insurance – Soudal).
This victory marks a double win for Ally, who already won the event last year.
