The second edition of the Tour de Normandie for women set off from Bagnoles de l’Orne on Thursday 14 March 2024, with a scheduled finish in Caen on Sunday 17 March.
Right from the inaugural time trial in Bagnoles de l’Orne, the team distinguished itself as a key player in this competition, with Ellen Van Dijk (Lidl-Trek) winning the first stage and taking the overall lead.
On the second stage between Le Neubourg and Pavilly, which featured varied weather conditions and a difficult circuit, the team showed its unity and ability to work together. Ceratizit’s Sandra Alonso won this stage, but Gladys also performed well, taking fifth place.
On the third stage, Alessia Vigilia and Gladys Verhulst-Wild proved their team’s determination. Alessia tried a daring breakaway with Lauren Stephens, and Gladys confirmed her position at the end of the race, taking third place.
The final stage was particularly demanding with its many changes in altitude, totalling more than 2,000 metres. Josie Nelson of the UNO-X Mobility team won this stage, but the team continued to play an important role, demonstrating solid preparation and strategy.
The Tour de Normandie 2024 ended on a positive note for the team, with Gladys Verhulst-Wild finishing 8th overall after the fourth and final stage.
