Marta Cavalli returned to winning ways on the second stage of the CIC-Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées, taking first place at the end of the day.
This stage, known for its demanding nature, with a finish at the mythical Col de Hautacam, was the scene of a remarkable performance by Cavalli. The Italian rider showed exceptional resilience over the 13.6km at 7.8%, managing to outrun yellow jersey Ashleigh Moolman by three seconds.
Marta Cavalli succeeds Ashleigh Moolman, who won the first stage. The Italian was also ahead of Antonia Niedermaier of the Canyon//SRAM Racing team.
With the third and final stage of the CIC-Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées just around the corner, a hilly 127km route between Nay and Bosdarros, the FDJ-SUEZ team is already concentrating on this new event. Marta Cavalli, currently leading the standings, is well placed to take overall victory in this second edition of the Tour.
