On Sunday 26 April, Demi Vollering secured a solo victory at the 2026 Liège–Bastogne–Liège Women’s race, just four days after her win at the Flèche Wallonne. A masterful double in the Ardennes that has gone down in history.
In this 10th edition of Liège-Bastogne-Liège Women, the Dutch rider claimed victory at the end of the 156-kilometre route from Bastogne to Liège. Having already been crowned champion in 2021 and 2023 in the ‘Fiery City’, Demi Vollering thus becomes the first woman to win the ‘Doyenne’ three times, further extending her exceptional list of achievements.
Right from the start, the team took control of the race. As her teammates set a fast pace for miles on end and the early breakaway had just been caught, Demi Vollering stood up on her pedals 500 metres from the summit of La Redoute. A blistering attack 35 kilometres from the finish, to which no one could respond — not even the best climbers in the world peloton.
At the top of La Redoute, the Dutch rider already had a 30-second lead. Showing great race management, she then paced herself all the way to Liège, winning with a 1’29” lead over the chasing group. Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Premier Tech) finished second in the sprint ahead of Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM zondacrypto) and Anna van der Breggen.
This success marks Demi Vollering’s seventh victory of the season, and the team’s fifteenth overall.
