In her first major outing wearing the European champion’s jersey, Demi Vollering dominated the 2026 Setmana Ciclista Valenciana. With two stage wins and total control of the race, the FDJ UNITED-Suez leader took the overall classification on Sunday in Valencia, confirming her status right from the start with the team.
Right from the first stage on Thursday, Demi Vollering set the tone by winning solo. Perfectly supported by her teammates, she finished the first stage with a 52-second lead over her rivals, immediately taking the leader’s jersey.
The following day, during a second stage designed for sprinters, the team remained vigilant. Despite a fall in the final kilometre, Amber Kraak put in a strong sprint to take 5th place, allowing Vollering to maintain her lead in the overall standings.
On Saturday, the third stage was cancelled by the organisers due to strong winds making the race too dangerous.
It was this Sunday, during the final stage, that Demi sealed her success:
After launching a sharp attack on the final climb to break away with four other riders, she sprinted to victory to claim her second stage win, finishing fifteen seconds ahead of a peloton led by Elisa Balsamo.
Demi wins the overall classification as well as the points classification. She finishes ahead of Maëva Squiban and Mie Bjørndal Ottestad in the final standings.
